Egypt to Restore Simplified Visa Process for Canadian Tourists

The change comes nearly a year after Egypt imposed a more cumbersome and costly visa requirement on Canadian travelers.

In October 2023, Egypt suspended the ability for Canadians to obtain visas online or upon arrival, requiring a more complex process.
The previous visa process for Canadians involved a $150 fee and the mailing of an application form, passport, and itinerary.
Egyptian officials initially imposed the stricter visa requirements in response to Canada making it harder for Egyptian citizens to obtain visas.
Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty informed Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly that the simplified visa process will be reinstated soon.
The exact date when the new visa process will take effect has not yet been confirmed by the Egyptian embassy in Ottawa.
