Overview
- Advanced RAN Coordination is live in Manchester and Edinburgh, with rollout over the next year to London, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, Belfast, Cardiff, Newcastle, Sheffield and Sunderland.
- EE will deploy 5G Standalone to 17 additional locations by December 2025, including Basildon, Brighton & Hove, Oxford, Portsmouth, Reading and Southampton.
- The operator targets availability of Standalone 5G to more than 41 million people by spring 2026.
- EE says ARC lets nearby sites share capacity in real time to improve peak-time reliability in busy areas without building new masts.
- The upgrades come at no extra cost, with the biggest performance gains expected on recent iOS and Android phones that support 5G Standalone; EE describes ARC as a world-first.
