Education Secretary Cardona Tackles Antisemitism and Islamophobia on College Campuses

In the Wake of Oct. 7 Hamas Attacks, Department of Education Opens Dozens of Civil Rights Inquiries

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona has been actively addressing the rise of antisemitism and Islamophobia on college campuses, particularly in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel.
Cardona recently held a roundtable discussion at Dartmouth College with Jewish and Muslim students, as part of the recently launched Dartmouth Dialogues initiative.
The Department of Education has opened civil rights inquiries at dozens of schools and colleges in response to complaints of antisemitism and Islamophobia since the Oct. 7 attacks.
Cardona has met with Jewish students and leaders of national Muslim, Arab, and Sikh organizations to discuss the rise of these issues on college campuses.
The issue of antisemitism and Islamophobia on campuses has led to the resignation of two university presidents and two administration officials.
