Overview
- Organised by IIT Madras and BHU Varanasi, the programme is backed by multiple central ministries, IRCTC, and the Uttar Pradesh government.
- More than 1,400 delegates from Tamil Nadu will take part across seven groups spanning students, educators, media, agriculture, professionals and artisans, women, and spiritual scholars.
- The eight-day itinerary covers Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya, featuring seminars, cultural performances, and visits to Tamil heritage sites and BHU’s Tamil Department.
- The general registration portal closed at 8 pm on November 21, while a November 23 quiz will shortlist participants; a BHU portal will select 300 students for a 15-day Tamil immersion in Tamil Nadu.
- Key initiatives include the Sage Agasthya vehicle expedition from Tenkasi to Kashi, Tamil teaching in Varanasi schools, and Tamil learning study tours for students from Uttar Pradesh.
