Edomex Raids Recover 72 Homes in Ecatepec, 13 Detained Including Alleged Leader

Authorities describe the coordinated action as a new push within Operación Restitución to break up networks that seized houses and extorted owners.

Overview

  • Federal, state and municipal forces under the Mando Unificado Zona Oriente executed synchronized searches in Ecatepec, Tultitlán, Nezahualcóyotl and Acolman.
  • Sixty of the 72 properties were secured in the Los Héroes Ecatepec Primera Sección, identified as a stronghold of the group known as Los 300 that controlled access points.
  • Thirteen suspects were detained across the operations, including three men arrested during the Los Héroes intervention, one of them a Colombian national.
  • Authorities report the capture in Ecatepec of Alejandro “N,” alias “Choko,” identified as a leader tied to homicide, extortion, narcomenudeo and despojo.
  • Searches yielded 16 firearms, ammunition, 10 vehicles, three motorcycles, drugs, documents and computer equipment, and officials say the campaign has recovered 861 properties since April with hundreds already restituted.
