Edmonton Police Find Samuel Bird’s Remains, Charge One Man With Murder

Detectives urge online sleuths to stop circulating false claims about youths and family members.

  • Investigators located the 14-year-old’s remains Thursday in a rural area outside Edmonton and notified his family.
  • Bryan Farrell, 38, was arrested Oct. 15 and charged with second-degree murder and interfering with a body, plus 13 other offences including aggravated assault and arson.
  • Police said Farrell is the only person charged in the case and they are not seeking additional suspects.
  • Lead investigator Det. Jared Buhler said narratives implicating other youths or the accused’s relatives are false and condemned the doxxing of minors.
  • Court records allege Samuel was killed on or about June 1 and his body was moved to a wooded area on or about June 2; the allegations have not been tested in court.
