Edmonton Actor Julien Arnold Passes Away During 'A Christmas Carol' Performance

The veteran performer and pillar of Edmonton's theatre community died following a medical emergency at the Citadel Theatre on November 24.

Julien Arnold, a longtime Edmonton actor, died during a performance of 'A Christmas Carol' at the Citadel Theatre on November 24, 2024, after a medical emergency.
Arnold, 59, was playing the roles of Marley and Mr. Fezziwig in the production and had been a part of the annual show for years, including portraying Scrooge in 2017.
Arnold was a founding member of Free Will Players, the company behind Edmonton's Freewill Shakespeare Festival, and also established The Atlas Theatre Collective in 2008.
The Citadel Theatre has announced slight scheduling adjustments to upcoming performances and is working to support Arnold's family, cast members, staff, and patrons during this time.
A GoFundMe has been launched to assist Arnold’s wife, Sheiny Satanove, with funeral expenses and other costs, as the community mourns the loss of his warmth, talent, and generosity.
