Edinburgh Gunman Pleads Guilty to Firing Into Home of Mark Richardson Associate

Police link the case to Operation Portaledge targeting gang violence in Scotland's two largest cities.

Overview

  • Nicky Robertson, 39, admitted at the High Court in Edinburgh to culpably and recklessly firing three live rounds through a ground-floor window on March 20.
  • He also pleaded guilty to firearms offences over illegal possession of a Glock handgun and live ammunition during the spring.
  • CCTV and a widely shared video showed a man run to the address and fire three shots, with a white BMW 1 Series later tracked and found burned out near Dalmeny.
  • A Glock, magazine and bullets recovered from a Crewe Road Gardens property on April 17 were forensically matched to casings from Niddrie Marischal Crescent.
  • Judge Lord Weir ordered background and risk reports with sentencing set for January 14, as Police Scotland said the inquiry falls under Operation Portaledge and court records note Robertson’s prior serious convictions including a 2007 attempted-murder case.
