Overview
- The scheme measures reductions during 4pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday, with cuts of 5%, 20%, 35% and 50% earning 4, 8, 12 and 16 free hours the next Sunday.
- Participation requires manual registration via an EDF account plus a half-hourly smart meter, residence in Great Britain, age 18 or over and an electricity tariff with no more than two unit rates.
- Earned free electricity is applied automatically as account credit rather than cash, reducing future bills.
- EDF reports more than 154,000 customers have taken part, accumulating 6,238,028 free hours valued at about £1.5 million.
- The relaunch comes as Ofgem’s price cap for a typical dual-fuel household rises to £1,755 on 1 October 2025.
