Ed Sheeran Launches Two Coventry Music Programs, Makes Surprise School Visit

Local partnerships will channel his foundation’s support into equipment, mentoring and real industry pathways for young people in the city.

Overview

  • During a visit to Coventry schools, the Ed Sheeran Foundation unveiled two initiatives, Access to Music Industry and Your Voice.
  • Access to Music Industry pairs the foundation with Coventry Music, a Coventry City Council project, to guide students toward creative careers with one funded place per secondary school for a weekly bespoke day.
  • Participating schools pledged to fund the following two years of the Access to Music Industry program, with industry professionals scheduled to mentor students in 2026 and 2027.
  • Your Voice, delivered with St Giles Trust and Coventry Music at Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, will support 40 vulnerable 11–17-year-olds over 12 months through weekly music sessions, trauma-informed mentoring and accredited qualifications.
  • Sheeran also made an unannounced return to Coventry Academy, where he listened to students’ work; student Louis (Hayz) said the star took time to hear their music and offered encouragement.
