ED Says Seizures Top Rs 100 Crore in Karnataka MLA Veerendra Betting Probe

The agency links betting proceeds to mule accounts that financed costly international travel.

Overview

  • Searches on September 6 in Challekere led to the seizure of 21.43 kg of gold bullion, 10.985 kg of gold‑coated silver bars and about 1 kg of jewellery valued at roughly Rs 24 crore.
  • With the latest haul, the Enforcement Directorate reports cumulative proceeds‑of‑crime seizures in the case have crossed Rs 100 crore.
  • Investigators allege illegal betting sites including King567, Raja567, Lion567, Play567 and Playwin567 routed collections through multiple payment gateways, with more than Rs 2,000 crore flowing through a single gateway in a short period.
  • The probe asserts that international tickets worth crores for K. C. Veerendra, his family and associates were paid via a network of mule accounts to disguise the source of funds.
  • The ED cites high‑end vehicles linked to the MLA that are registered or funded through third parties, and notes a court‑ordered custody extension on September 4 as well as interim High Court protection for Anil Gowda while his challenge to ED summons is considered.
