Overview
- On Aug 13, the Enforcement Directorate carried out coordinated raids under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act at six premises in Lucknow and two in Delhi to gather evidence for asset tracing.
- The probe, launched with an ECIR in 2021, has grown from 48 to 87 FIRs filed by home and commercial buyers alleging non-delivery of promised properties.
- A UP RERA forensic audit estimates the proceeds of crime at ₹248 crore, building on earlier de-registration of projects and the July 2022 attachment of assets worth ₹116.23 crore.
- Promoters Piyush, Paresh and Deepak Rastogi have evaded authorities for nearly four years, hindering past attachment attempts due to a lack of documentary evidence.
- ED officials expect the documents and digital records seized to support further provisional attachments and strengthen legal cases for compensating affected investors.
