Overview

  • Searches were conducted under Section 17 of the PMLA at 13 Delhi-NCR locations, including Bharadwaj’s residence, as part of an ECIR tied to ACB FIR No. 37/2025 dated June 26.
  • The case stems from ACB allegations of large cost escalations, unauthorized construction, and misappropriation in projects worth ₹5,590 crore.
  • Specific examples cited by investigators include an ICU hospital plan reportedly about 50% complete despite roughly ₹800 crore spent, and LNJP costs rising from ₹488 crore to ₹1,135 crore.
  • The ED said teams also searched offices of private contractors, including premises in West Patel Nagar and Kasturba Gandhi Marg, to trace evidence of diversion and laundering of public funds.
  • AAP leaders called the action politically motivated and a diversion, asserting Bharadwaj was not a minister during the period cited, while the ED has not disclosed any seizures or detailed findings so far.
