ED Raids 13 Sites in Goa and Hyderabad in Rs 1,200-Crore Communidade Land Probe

The money-laundering case traces alleged forged mutations of Communidade titles into private names to convert village land into saleable assets.

Overview

  • The ED’s Panaji Zonal Office conducted coordinated searches on September 9–10 at 13 residential and commercial locations linked to the case.
  • Investigators seized about Rs 72 lakh in cash and seven luxury vehicles, including a Porsche Cayman, Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz, BMW models and an Audi A6.
  • Multiple bank accounts and fixed deposits tied to individuals under scrutiny were frozen under the PMLA.
  • The agency alleges more than 3.5 lakh square metres in areas such as Anjuna and Assagao were illegally mutated using forged documents and later resold to generate proceeds of crime.
  • The ED estimates the implicated land value likely exceeds Rs 1,200 crore and says the ongoing probe could reveal a wider network, with Yeshwant Sawant named among the accused.
