ED Pushes Reliance ADAG Attachments to About Rs 7,500 Crore With Seizure of DAKC Land

Investigators say the move seeks to preserve alleged proceeds of crime from complex fund diversions under the PMLA.

Overview

  • ED provisionally attached over 132 acres at Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City in Navi Mumbai, valuing the land at about Rs 4,462 crore and taking total attachments to roughly Rs 7,500 crore.
  • Earlier orders dated October 31 covered about 42 properties worth Rs 3,083–3,084 crore, including the Pali Hill residence in Mumbai, the Reliance Centre plot in New Delhi, and assets spread across multiple cities.
  • The probe stems from a CBI FIR and focuses on alleged diversion of public funds through Reliance Home Finance and Reliance Commercial Finance, with Yes Bank investments of Rs 2,965 crore and Rs 2,045 crore later turning non‑performing by December 2019.
  • ED alleges systematic evergreening and routing of funds across Reliance group entities, citing over Rs 13,600 crore used to evergreen loans, Rs 12,600 crore moved to connected parties, and around Rs 1,800 crore cycled through FDs and mutual funds, alongside control failures in lending.
  • A separate FEMA line of inquiry flagged Rs 40 crore allegedly siphoned from a highway project via Surat-based shells to Dubai, while Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Power said the attachments have no material impact on ongoing operations.
