ED Probes Alleged Forged Land Buys Linked to Al-Falah Chief, Weighs Asset Attachment

Investigators say a fabricated 2004 power of attorney enabled the 2013 transfer of a Madanpur Khadar plot to a Siddiqui-linked trust.

Overview

  • The ED alleges a GPA dated January 7, 2004 carried signatures and thumb impressions of people who had died between 1972 and 1998, and it was later used to execute a June 27, 2013 sale deed for Khasra No. 792 in favour of the Tarbiya Education Foundation for Rs 75 lakh.
  • Documents reviewed by investigators show one agent, identified as Vinod Kumar, holding power of attorney for multiple original owners, including at least five who were deceased when the GPA was registered.
  • Beyond the Madanpur Khadar plot, officials are examining other Delhi parcels acquired by the Siddiqui-linked foundation, with one report citing sources that at least 50 plots were bought on the same day in 2013.
  • Jawad (Javed) Ahmad Siddiqui was arrested on November 18 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and remains in ED custody following raids at roughly 25 locations and the identification of several shell firms at a common address.
  • The agency is valuing properties for potential attachment and is tracing financial flows to determine whether alleged proceeds of crime and university receipts were diverted, including any possible links to suspects in the Red Fort blast probe.
