ED Files PMLA Charges in Two MP Graft Cases, Pre-Cognisance Notices Issued

Overview

• ED filed a Prosecution Complaint on January 19, 2026 against former senior district registrar Sobaran Singh Apouriya before the Special PMLA Court in Bhopal, with a notice issued to the accused.
• Investigators allege Apouriya amassed Rs 97,13,289 in assets disproportionate to known income and laundered funds through family accounts and conversions into financial instruments and properties.
• ED submitted a PMLA chargesheet on January 9, 2026 against former NCL senior manager Shailendra Pasari before the Special PMLA Court in Jabalpur, and a notice has been served.
• CBI ACB cases underpin Pasari’s matter, including a 2018 trap for a Rs 10,000 bribe and searches that recovered Rs 72,97,200 in unaccounted cash, alongside a disproportionate-assets FIR covering 2014 to 2018.
• ED quantified Pasari’s proceeds of crime at Rs 1,30,94,155, provisionally attached assets in March 2025 with confirmation in August 2025, and has sought confiscation of the attached properties and seized cash.
