Overview

• Immovable assets valued at Rs 71 crore have been provisionally attached, with about Rs 44 crore linked to Anil Pawar and the remainder to builder Sitaram Gupta and others.
• ED alleges Pawar generated Rs 169 crore in bribe-driven proceeds of crime and spent the funds on jewellery, expensive sarees, warehouses, farmhouses and a residential project in his wife's name.
• Investigators describe an organised network inside VVCMC that allegedly set fixed commission rates, including Rs 150 per sq ft on illegal builds with Rs 50 per sq ft to Pawar, and later Rs 20–25 in Urban Zones and Rs 62 in Green Zones for approvals.
• Earlier searches yielded nearly Rs 8.94 crore in cash, jewellery and bullion worth Rs 23.25 crore, and frozen bank balances, shares, mutual funds and FDs worth Rs 13.86 crore.
• The probe stems from FIRs filed after the Bombay High Court ordered demolition of 41 illegal buildings, Pawar and three others remain in judicial custody, and an ED chargesheet awaits cognisance.
