Eco Wave Power, I-KE Win Tender for Taiwan’s First Port-Based Wave Pilot at Suao

The award designates Zone C at the port’s outer breakwater for a 100 kW demonstration that could anchor phased expansion.

Overview

  • I-KE, a Lian Tat subsidiary, secured exclusive rights to Zone C at Suao Port through a competitive selection completed in July 2025.
  • Eco Wave Power and I-KE plan to deploy Taiwan’s first 100 kW onshore wave energy conversion unit at the site under a late-2024 turnkey sale.
  • The Keelung Branch of Taiwan Port Corporation allocated 6.75 hectares on the southern outer breakwater for wave testing across three 2.25-hectare zones.
  • According to the companies, the pilot is intended to build toward 20 MW at the port with potential expansion up to 400 MW along Taiwan’s coastline.
  • The partners say the Pacific-facing site offers stable, representative wave conditions and aligns with Taiwan’s energy transition policy.
