Overview
- On Dec. 4, the Election Commission of India told Justice Mini Pushkarna that the PMK’s election symbol will remain frozen during the unresolved leadership fight.
- The ECI said it cannot accept Form A and Form B from either faction while both claim ownership of the party.
- Founder Dr S. Ramadoss has petitioned the court, alleging the commission relied on wrong documents when recognizing his son, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, as party president.
- Senior advocate Balbir Singh, for the founder, argued Anbumani misrepresented meeting dates to extend his tenure beyond May 2025, a claim the rival side rejects.
- Counsel for Anbumani dismissed the allegations as misleading, as a Ramadoss-led faction staged a protest in Delhi accusing the ECI of accepting forged papers.
