ECI Sets November-End Deadline to Digitise West Bengal Voter Forms Collected in SIR
A four-member central team will review work in five districts from 18 to 21 November.
Overview
- An urgent meeting on Saturday fixed the digitisation target, with CEO Manoj Kumar Agarwal and district magistrates present and senior ECI officials joining virtually from New Delhi.
- Digitisation has already covered about 50 lakh enumeration forms, with work slated to accelerate from Sunday to hit the month-end target.
- The Special Intensive Revision began on 4 November in three stages, and the overall revision exercise is scheduled to conclude by March 2025.
- The visiting review team includes Gyanesh Bharti, S. B. Joshi, Malay Mallick and Abhinav Agarwal, who will assess progress in Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad and Malda.
- Across SIR Phase II, 7.59 crore forms have been delivered in West Bengal (99.16 percent coverage) as part of over 49 crore distributed in 12 states and UTs, and parties have been urged to deploy more booth-level agents through 4 December.
