Overview

  • The Election Commission’s August 27 bulletin reports 53 party filings, all by CPI(ML)-Liberation, alongside 178,948 individual claims or objections and 635,124 Form 6 submissions from new voters.
  • RJD leaders dispute the Commission’s assertion, alleging they submitted more than 500 complaints that were not acknowledged and saying Booth Level Officers refused receipts.
  • The Commission says party challenges must be filed by Booth Level Agents using prescribed Forms 6 or 7 with declarations, and that generic or bulk submissions are logged as general complaints rather than formal objections.
  • Draft rolls published on August 1 flagged about 65 lakh entries as deceased, shifted, or duplicate, and the ECI reiterates no deletion can proceed without a speaking order after enquiry and opportunity to be heard.
  • The claims and objections window closes on September 1, with voters able to check the draft rolls online and file Form 6 or Form 7 in line with the Supreme Court’s transparency directions.
