ECI Reports ₹108 Crore in Seizures as Bihar Voting Nears

  • Enforcement teams have confiscated illicit cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals and other freebies valued at ₹108.19 crore as of November 3 through coordinated multi-agency operations across States and Union Territories.
  • The seized items include ₹9.62 crore in cash, liquor worth ₹42.14 crore (9.6 lakh litres), drugs valued at ₹24.61 crore, precious metals worth ₹5.8 crore and other freebies exceeding ₹26 crore.
  • Citizen reports are being routed via the C‑VIGIL app and a 24x7 complaint system on the toll‑free number 1950 to District Election Officers and Returning Officers.
  • Bihar votes in two phases on November 6 and 11, bypolls in eight constituencies across seven states are on November 11, and counting for both is set for November 14.
  • Authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district ordered liquor shops within three kilometres of the Bihar border to close from 6 pm on November 4 to 6 pm on November 6 and again on the November 14 counting day.
