ECI Publishes Final Bihar Electoral Roll Listing 7.42 Crore Voters

Following a rare statewide verification, the list now serves as the basis for the fast-approaching assembly elections.

Overview

  • Official data show 7,41,92,357 registered voters after the Special Intensive Revision, reflecting about 68 lakh deletions and 21.53 lakh additions since the draft roll.
  • Voters can verify entries at voters.eci.gov.in, and physical copies are being provided to district election officials and recognised political parties.
  • Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and fellow commissioners will review preparedness in Patna on October 4–5, with the poll schedule expected to be announced soon thereafter, according to officials.
  • The Supreme Court will hold a final hearing on October 7 on challenges to the revision, having warned it may set aside the roll if illegality is proven and having allowed Aadhaar as an identity document for enrollment without treating it as proof of citizenship.
  • District updates include Patna’s tally rising by about 1.63 lakh since the draft; Form-6 inclusions exceeded 16.5 lakh during claims and objections, with further valid applications to be added via supplementary lists under election rules.
