Overview
- Under Section 60(c) of the Representation of the People Act, electors aged 85 and above and persons with benchmark disabilities can opt for postal ballots.
- Eligible voters must submit Form 12D to the Returning Officer through their Booth Level Officer within five days of the election notification.
- Polling teams will visit residences to collect completed ballots from elderly and PwD electors who choose this option.
- Service voters will receive ballots electronically via the ETPBS immediately after the list of contesting candidates is finalised and will not pay postal charges.
- Postal ballots extend to designated essential service staff on polling day and authorised media personnel, with applications filed through departmental nodal officers; ROs and DEOs have been told to brief parties as the Model Code of Conduct is in force.
