ECI Completes First Randomization of EVMs and VVPATs for Bihar Phase I

The witnessed EMS-based allocation aims to bolster transparency ahead of final candidate-wise disclosures.

Overview

  • District Election Officers in all 18 Phase I districts conducted the process after First Level Checking using the EVM Management System in the presence of recognised party representatives.
  • A total of 54,311 Ballot Units, 54,311 Control Units and 58,123 VVPATs were assigned across 121 Assembly constituencies covering 45,336 polling stations.
  • Constituency-wise allocation lists were provided to political parties at district headquarters to ensure full disclosure.
  • The randomized machines have been placed in Assembly Strong Rooms under guard with party representatives present for oversight.
  • The Election Commission will share finalized allocations with all contesting candidates once candidate lists are published, with polling scheduled for November 6 and November 11.
