Overview
- An October 7 notification allows electors on the roll who lack their EPIC to vote using any one of 12 specified photo IDs.
- Accepted documents include Aadhaar, passport, driving licence, PAN, MNREGA job card, bank or post office passbooks, NPR smart card, pension papers, service and official IDs, and the UDID card.
- The Commission cited statutory powers under the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 to deter impersonation at polling stations.
- Bihar will vote for 243 seats in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting on November 14, after final rolls were set at 7.42 crore electors following removal of 65 lakh names.
