Overview
- The England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Monday that it has moved to a two-tier structure of 30 full central contracts plus nine England Development contracts for 2026–27, taking the total to 39 players.
- Eleven players were given two-year central deals running through 30 September 2028, including Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Will Jacks, while 19 others received one-year central contracts.
- Seven players earned their first full central contracts — Tom Banton, Sam Cook, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Emilio Gay, Matthew Fisher and Dan Lawrence — and Ollie Robinson returned to the list.
- Stephen Fleming was named England Test head coach with Marcus Trescothick, James Foster, Eric Simons and Richard Dawson on his staff, and Brendon McCullum will remain head of the white-ball programme with Tim Southee, Jeetan Patel, Sarah Taylor and Kevin Pietersen supporting him.
- The list reflects recent retirements and selection changes — Ben Stokes and Mark Wood are no longer contracted and Zak Crawley was omitted — while Brydon Carse kept a contract but will be subject to a separate Cricket Regulator investigation before any selection action is taken.
