Ecatepec Reports 1,000+ Public Works, Water Gains and Crime Drop in First-Year Review

Mayor Azucena Cisneros set a 2026 goal of 2,000 works, with a joint repaving of the R1 coordinated with Texcoco.

Overview

  • The administration says it invested 721 million pesos to deliver more than 1,000 works after raising the public-works budget from 544 million.
  • Officials report water service now reaches over 300,000 families with a 40% supply increase, more than 4,000 leaks repaired, 29 wells reactivated and about 100 clandestine intakes recovered.
  • Joint operations with the Navy, National Guard and municipal police are credited with cutting high-impact crimes by about 50% and intentional homicides by 37%, and with removing Ecatepec from top-20 national lists for violent municipalities and for feminicides.
  • The government cites paving of more than 444 kilometers of roads and 281 million pesos spent to buy equipment, patrols, radios and tools, ending machinery rentals.
  • Social and health measures highlighted include support for over 35,000 women, free mammograms, reopening Clinic 93 and recovering an abandoned hospital for oncology care, alongside large-scale trash collection and wetland restoration.
