Ecatepec Dismantles 1.5-Kilometer Illegal Water-Theft Network in Media Luna

The state prosecutor has opened a case into the clandestine tapping of the municipal water system.

Overview

  • Civil Protection teams, backed by municipal police and a Navy task force, removed about 1.5 kilometers of black hoses connected to the potable network across Media Luna and Códice Mendocino 1.
  • Residents said they bought water drawn from the network for 70 to 200 pesos at at least three points of sale.
  • Municipal crews cleared nearly three kilometers of Valle de Guadiana, hauling roughly 300 tons of waste and dismantling illegal structures on federal land near the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense.
  • Authorities suspended a plastic pallet recycling business for using public streets as storage and failing to meet basic safety requirements.
  • Sapase’s director said a targeted operation will seek to resolve supply inequities and deliver water through the official network in the affected neighborhoods.
