EC Tightens SIR Pace With 150-Form Daily Target for West Bengal BLOs

EC data show roughly 99% of electors have received enumeration forms, yet only about 16% have been digitised halfway through the one-month drive, which has a December 4 submission cutoff and a December 9 draft roll date.
In West Bengal, each booth-level officer must now upload 150 forms daily via the ECI app, with the state at around 19% digitisation after 1.48 crore forms uploaded and 80,681 BLOs deployed.
Progress varies sharply by state, with Goa at 48.50% and Rajasthan at 40.90% compared with Uttar Pradesh at 3.77% and Kerala at 1.89% as reported on Wednesday.
For this phase, BLOs are not collecting supporting documents and must match forms to older rolls, and EC officials say uploads can continue until the draft rolls are published on December 9.
Authorities have escalated enforcement with FIRs against BLOs in Bulandshahr and suspensions or salary deductions in Madhya Pradesh districts, while three BLO suicides have been reported, including one in West Bengal this week.
