Overview
- The verification was conducted on September 18 at Government Degree College (Boys), Udhampur, from 10 am to 7 pm under tight security with ECIL engineers, election officials and eligible candidates present.
- Checks covered three polling stations—Mada-A, Mada-B and Kud-A—and included diagnostic tests, mock polls and a match of polled data with VVPAT slips that the Election Commission said fully aligned.
- Three control units from one station showed a minor clock error during diagnostics, which officials described as a technical issue with no effect on recorded votes, and the intact poll data was demonstrated to participants.
- The exercise followed ECI SOPs including video recording, options for random selection of additional EVMs and providing the outcome to the applicant, with tallies consistent with the declared result for BJP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia.
- Applicant Harsh Dev Singh rejected the findings, alleged ECI–BJP collusion, claimed machine failures and said he will seek to void the 2024 Chenani result, in what is the year's second such verification after July 31 checks in Maharashtra.
