Overview

  • The Election Commission says Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision is on schedule and reports receiving documents from 98.2% of electors.
  • Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar invited citizen feedback with five queries on verifying rolls, removing deceased and duplicates, striking off those who relocated, and excluding foreign nationals.
  • A Bharat Jodo Abhiyaan sample survey reported only 49% submitted complete enumeration forms, with fewer than 1% receiving a paper receipt and 10% an SMS acknowledgement.
  • Among those required to prove eligibility, the survey found only 18% submitted one of the 11 EC‑listed documents, while many relied on Aadhaar or ration cards that were not initially accepted; 97% possessed Aadhaar.
  • The survey authors contend the process has already produced over 65 lakh deletions and caution that removals could exceed two crore unless the document regime is broadened.
