Overview
- The presidency published Thiago Regotto's nomination in the Diário Oficial da União on Friday, making his appointment to lead the Empresa Brasil de Comunicação official.
- Regotto is a 23-year EBC veteran who began as a radio intern in 2003 and has been a career civil servant since 2013, and he is the first employee from EBC's operational (finalistic) ranks to reach the director-general post.
- He led expansion and programming modernization at Rádio Nacional and Rádio MEC, including the launch of Rádio Nacional de São Paulo and the APCA-winning program Tarde Nacional SP in 2025.
- Regotto succeeds David Butter, who led EBC since January and oversaw TV 3.0 test transmissions and approval of an internal Innovation Policy that Regotto will inherit.
- The change reinforces EBC's public-radio priorities and suggests continued emphasis on multiplatform programming, institutional memory projects such as the Museu da Rádio Nacional, and the technical rollout of TV 3.0.
