easyJet Planes Clip Wings While Taxiing at Manchester Airport

Flights have resumed at Manchester with expected delays after easyJet grounded two jets for safety inspections.

  • easyJet confirmed that the wing tips of two aircraft contacting one another around 6:15 a.m. halted early-morning departures from Terminal One bound for Gibraltar (U22267) and Paris (U22117).
  • Operations were briefly suspended as ground and engineering teams cleared debris and conducted mandatory safety checks before resuming departures.
  • Passengers on at least one affected flight were disembarked, given refreshment vouchers and rebooked onto replacement aircraft arranged by easyJet.
  • Eyewitness and passenger videos showed missing or twisted wing-tip fragments being collected by airport workers on the taxiway.
  • easyJet has grounded both aircraft for the day and launched an immediate investigation while technical inspections continue and alternative travel is organized for those impacted.
