EasyJet Opens Applications for 2026 Engineering Apprenticeships Across UK Bases

The move responds to regulator warnings of a looming aircraft engineer shortfall.

Overview

  • Applications are open for positions at Luton, London Gatwick, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow engineering bases.
  • Minimum entry requirements are at least two GCSEs at grade 3 or above (or SCQF Level 4) including English and Maths.
  • A company-commissioned survey of 2,000 people aged 16–24 found 65% had never considered engineering, with perceived barriers including lack of qualifications (59%), limited school exposure (34%) and cost concerns (21%).
  • The research reported a gender gap in interest, with 36% of young women considering engineering compared with 52% of young men.
  • EasyJet’s engineering chief says apprentices will gain experience on the airline’s fleet while supporting aviation decarbonisation, with the scheme endorsed by Aviation Minister Keir Mather.
