Eastpointe Rape Suspect Arrested in New York After Assault on 12-Year-Old

Investigators recovered items the child identified, with other evidence now pointing to possible additional victims.

Overview

  • Police say a 12-year-old was taken into a home near the 14000 block of Crescentwood in Eastpointe on Sept. 22 and sexually assaulted.
  • The suspect, identified as 52-year-old convicted sex offender Andrew Logan Williams, was arrested about 24 hours later roughly 30 minutes south of Buffalo.
  • Eastpointe police coordinated with Detroit police, New York State Police and U.S. Marshals to locate and arrest the suspect.
  • Officers executed a search warrant at the Eastpointe residence, recovered multiple items the victim recognized, and the child later identified the suspect in a lineup.
  • Officials say Williams is awaiting extradition to Michigan with no arraignment yet scheduled, and investigators say seized materials may prompt further cases.
