Eastern India’s First Fully Air-Conditioned EMU to Debut on Sealdah–Ranaghat Line

The service begins on August 10 with a 12-coach rake built by Integral Coach Factory to introduce air conditioning to Kolkata’s busiest suburban corridor.

Overview

  • Union ministers Sukanta Majumdar and Shantanu Thakur will flag off the inaugural run at Sealdah on August 10 ahead of commercial operations from Ranaghat on August 11.
  • The train will provide one morning service departing Ranaghat at 8:29 am to reach Sealdah at 10:10 am and an evening return leaving Sealdah at 6:50 pm to arrive at Ranaghat at 8:32 pm.
  • The service covers the 65 kilometer stretch in 1 hour 40 minutes at a top speed of 110 km/h, stopping at Chakdah, Kalyani, Kanchrapara, Naihati, Barrackpore, Khardah, Sodepur, Dumdum and Bidhannagar.
  • The 12-coach stainless-steel rake built by Integral Coach Factory seats 1,126 passengers and connects through end-to-end vestibule gangways.
  • Onboard systems include full CCTV surveillance, automatic sliding doors, ergonomic seating and emergency talk-back units for enhanced safety.
