Easter Rail Closures in Baden-Württemberg to Disrupt Travel

Deutsche Bahn confirms maintenance on Mannheim-Stuttgart and Karlsruhe-Basel lines, with replacement buses and delays expected.

The Mannheim-Stuttgart rail line will be closed from April 17 to June 6, causing rerouted trains and delays of up to 40 minutes.
The Karlsruhe-Basel (Rheintalbahn) line will shut down from April 18 to April 27, with travel times extended from 1 hour 40 minutes to approximately 3 hours due to bus transfers.
Closures are driven by essential geological repairs in the Freudensteintunnel and upgrades to tracks, switches, and infrastructure on the Rheintalbahn line.
Deutsche Bahn is deploying 100–130 replacement buses daily, though bicycles are not permitted on these services.
The timing of the closures over Easter was chosen to minimize disruption during a period of reduced commuter traffic.
