Overview

  • From December 15, Govia Thameslink Railway will operate two direct trains per weekday between Eastbourne, Lewes and London Bridge.
  • Morning services leave Eastbourne at 6:48 am and arrive at London Bridge by 8:25 am, with returns departing at 5:03 pm and reaching Eastbourne at 6:34 pm.
  • The restoration ends a five-year hiatus after the direct route was suspended in 2020 due to pandemic-induced ridership declines.
  • Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce and local figure Dave Cooper MBE joined MP Josh Babarinde in rallying residents and submitting a giant petition to revive the service.
  • Govia Thameslink Railway says the timetable is designed to rebuild commuter numbers and encourage a shift back to rail as a sustainable transport option.
