East San Jose Deli Hit by Second Vehicle-Ramming Burglary in Two Months

Police are investigating a repeat vehicle-ramming theft caught on the deli’s surveillance cameras.

Overview

  • Surveillance video shows a truck ramming Antipasto’s front doors at about 2 a.m., with two hooded suspects inside for under 30 seconds before fleeing with several wine bottles.
  • The incident marks the second break-in in two months using the same method at the East San Jose business.
  • Co-owner Nick DeRose says the deli has suffered five break-ins over the last three years at the nearly 40-year-old, family-run shop.
  • A similar break-in at the end of July led to about $5,000 in repairs, which the owners say far exceeded the value of what was stolen.
  • San Jose police say their investigation into the latest burglary is ongoing.
