East London School Considers Closure Amid Threats Over Palestinian Flag Row

Barclay Primary School Faces Arson and Bomb Threats, Metropolitan Police Pledges Support

Barclay Primary School in east London is considering closure and a switch to online learning due to escalating threats, including arson and bomb threats, following a row over a Palestinian flag.
The school had asked parents to stop sending their children to the school wearing any items alluding to political allegiance, sparking protests and threats against the school and its staff.
The Lion Academy Trust, which runs the school, has taken measures to secure the school, including hiring private security, securing additional support from the Metropolitan Police, closing the main reception, and installing CCTV.
The school was forced to close early for Christmas due to the threats and has warned that it may have to close permanently and switch to online learning if the situation does not improve.
The Metropolitan Police has pledged its support to the school community, stating that extra patrols are taking place and that safety for pupils is a priority.
