East Akron Shooting Injures Two as Rounds Strike Homes

Detectives are reviewing home videos to identify the shooters.

  • Police responded around 9 p.m. to Seiberling Street and Canadian Avenue and found a 21-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his leg and shoulder, and he was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
  • A 31-year-old man was grazed by a bullet while sitting on a couch inside a home in the 600 block of Seiberling Street and was treated at the scene.
  • At least three homes were hit by gunfire, and police say rounds entered children's rooms with one bullet falling into a baby's crib.
  • Investigators recovered numerous rifle and pistol casings at the scene and believe at least two people fired shots.
  • Witnesses reported the suspects may have fled in a silver or gray sedan, and no arrests have been announced.
