Earth to Experience Two Unique Asteroid Events This Month

A stadium-sized asteroid will pass by Earth tonight, while a smaller asteroid will become a temporary mini-moon for two months.

NASA is monitoring a 950-foot asteroid named 2024 ON, which will pass 621,000 miles from Earth tonight.
2024 ON is classified as a 'potentially hazardous object' due to its size and proximity but poses no threat to Earth.
A smaller asteroid, 2024 PT5, will be temporarily captured by Earth's gravity from September 29 to November 25.
2024 PT5, measuring about 10 meters in diameter, will make one complete orbit around Earth before returning to its solar orbit.
Both asteroids were discovered by NASA-funded systems designed to track near-Earth objects and assess potential hazards.
