• The pursuit began in Hale County and Moundville and entered Tuscaloosa County around 2:30 a.m., officials said.
• Tuscaloosa County deputies joined the chase before officers disabled the vehicle with tire spikes, according to investigators.
• The suspect stopped at Bell Auto Parts at 410 Bridge Avenue in Northport, where gunfire was exchanged with law enforcement.
• The suspect was fatally shot and the intersection at Fifth Street and Bridge Avenue was closed for several hours for scene work.
