Overview

• LAPD says an officer-involved shooting occurred shortly before 5:40 a.m. on the 300 block of North Myers Street.
• The operation began after a 12:30 a.m. 911 call about a masked man firing a rifle near a Boyle Heights warehouse.
• Officers set a perimeter along tracks between the Cesar Chavez Bridge and the 101 Freeway, with some 101 off-ramps shut.
• SWAT teams and police aircraft swept the area, and five to six people beneath the bridge were detained between 6 and 7 a.m.
• Authorities had not released the suspect’s identity or confirmed any injuries, and the standoff remained active at sunrise.
