Eagles Promote Julio Jones to Active Roster for Sunday Night Game Against Dolphins

Veteran receiver Julio Jones, who joined the practice squad earlier this week and has not played yet this year, set to start his 13th season in the league with the Eagles, bringing his seven Pro Bowl nods and record of leading the league in receiving yards twice to their game against the Dolphins.

  • Julio Jones, the veteran receiver who was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for the Sunday night game against the Miami Dolphins.
  • Having sat out the year so far, Jones is set to start in his 13th season in the league, despite Coach Sirianni's expressed aim to be cautious about elevating Jones too quickly due to the new offense he has to learn.
  • The Eagles hope that Jones, whose earlier career includes seven Pro Bowl nods and two seasons leading the league in receiving yards, can step up to fill the gap left by Quez Watkins, who is currently on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
  • Despite recent injury disruptions, Jones is only 148 yards away from moving up to No. 15 in career receiving yards, and will hope to start this quest on Sunday night as a target for quarterback Jalen Hurts, marking the official start of his tenure as an Eagle.
  • Jones spent the majority of his first 12 seasons in the NFL with the Falcons before stints with the Titans and Buccaneers; the latter saw him catching passes from Tom Brady in the QB's final season in Tampa Bay.
