EAGLE Seizes 220 Kg of Ephedrine in Hyderabad Raid, Ties Cache to Bollaram Factory

Investigators link a repeat offender to ephedrine production at a Bollaram unit, with stocks stashed in a Jeedimetla flat.

Overview

  • The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement raided a Jeedimetla apartment on October 9 and seized 220 kg of ephedrine valued at about ₹72 crore in the international market.
  • Four suspects were arrested: Vastavayi Shiva Ramakrishna Parama Varma, Dangeti Anil, Musini Dorababu, and Maddu Venkata Krishna Rao, while co-director M. Prasad remains absconding.
  • EAGLE identifies Varma, a former chemist previously arrested by the NCB, as the alleged mastermind who provided the formula, supplied key chemicals, and transferred ₹8 lakh to fund the operation.
  • Production allegedly occurred inside PNM Life Sciences’ facility at IDA Bollaram, which was sealed after officers found statutory documentation and financial records missing.
  • In a separate operation near Manchirevula, EAGLE and Cyberabad/Narsingi police arrested two suspects and seized about 107.4 grams of cocaine worth roughly ₹7.5 lakh.
