EA Sets January Shutdown After Removing The Sims Mobile From App Stores

EA gave no explanation, with all online saves and purchases set to vanish when servers shut down.

Overview

  • The app was pulled from Apple and Google stores on October 21, 2025, and new real‑money purchases were disabled immediately.
  • Servers will be turned off on January 20, 2026 at 14:59 CET, after which the game will be unplayable.
  • Existing SimCash, Simoleons, Tickets, and purchased items can be used until the shutdown, but all progress and purchases will be lost because saves are stored online and no offline mode is planned.
  • From January 6 to January 20, EA will unlock paid build and character editor content for everyone and grant unlimited energy to help players finish projects.
  • The decision follows a content freeze since 2024 and has triggered player backlash and preservation calls such as Stop Killing Games, with The Sims FreePlay cited as the active mobile alternative.
