Overview

  • Cliffhanger Games, formed in 2023 to develop a single-player Black Panther action-adventure set in Wakanda, has been closed alongside the game’s cancellation.
  • This marks EA’s third major restructuring of the year, following April layoffs of around 300 staff and additional cuts to its mobile and central teams.
  • EA Entertainment president Laura Miele stated that the move is designed to sharpen the company’s creative focus on its most significant growth opportunities.
  • The publisher plans to concentrate on flagship series such as Battlefield, The Sims, Skate and Apex Legends while maintaining development on Iron Man and the next Star Wars Jedi game.
  • EA is offering affected Cliffhanger and other employees opportunities to transfer into open roles across its divisions to limit job losses.
